The hype around football couldn’t be bigger than it is in Colombia. Fans are going crazy supporting their local team, cheering and chanting as if their lives depended on that one game, filling the stadium with a festival-like atmosphere throughout the entire 90 minutes. A spectacle we’ve been fortunate to experience first hand.

Sports are at the core of many Latin American cultures, but football owns a special place in the heart of Colombian people. During a national match, the usually heavy trafficked streets in big cities like Medellin become deserted when everyone is busy watching the game. With a sport as accessible as football that is played in every park or backyard and celebrated by all ages, it comes to no surprise that it functions as a strong common connection among locals. A connection to which Colombians devote all their passion, bringing communities together and giving individuals a sense of pride and unity.
