THE CRAFT OF LUNAR

20TH NOVEMBER

  • the craft of lunar

For the AW25 Holiday Drop, we worked with a small German specialized workshop, where glass is shaped over generations directly in front of the flame melting around 1150°C.
"The water, as it pours, catches the morning sun, and for a moment, the liquid is water capturing the light, flowing through a landscape of craters and gentle ridges. This act is my first calm."
Each piece captures the moment form emerges from heat, a subtle highlight of this capsule and a process as ancient as the craftsmen who first shaped glass. Holding the glass, I feel the crater-like texture, a miniature of the lunar surface. The Moon is a world of extremes, scorching days and frozen nights, a silent sphere covered in a charcoal-gray regolith. Our carafe is a gentler, warmer translation of that distant reality. The amber gradient is like a perpetual lunar sunrise, a reminder of the slow, synchronous rotation that keeps one face forever turned toward us.
As I drink, I think of the Moon’s slow retreat, an inch farther each year. It is a quiet, constant motion, much like the deliberate pace I try to set for my day. This carafe and its glass are daily companions for grounding moments. They are a tangible a sculpture born from flame that holds liquid, and  the quiet knowledge of a world shaped by collision and time, making the vastness of space feel, personal and calm.
