THE RHYTHM OF THROAT SINGING

NOV 4TH 2025

  • One does not simply hear the music of the Mongolian steppe. One feels it. It arrives on the wind, a low, resonant hum that seems to vibrate from the very earth itself. We stood there, amidst that breathtaking landscape, and witnessed these gentlemen drawing melodies. A conversation between two mongolian musicians, us and the land of Mongolia. The discipline. To shape the breath, to use the body as a resonator, to create harmony from a single source. They call this Khoomii, the ancient art of throat singing. At that moment, we felt present and filled with warmth.

Our eyes were drawn to the instrument in their hands, the Morin Khuur, its neck crowned with a carved horse head. Its two strings, made of horsehair, is a national symbol for Mongolian culture. The Morin Khuur, is recognized by UNESCO, as part of the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2008.

It is a sound that does not fade, but settles deep within you, a warm lasting echo that shaped our inspiration for the AW25 Altai Mirage Tailoring styles.
