THE PATCHWORK PROJECT
JANUARY 7TH 2024
AN UPCYCLING INITIATIVE CELEBRATING AKOG’S ROOTS LAUNCHING AS A LIMITED EDITION OF 15 THIS THURSDAY, 8 PM CET.
In 2009, AKOG was founded by upcycling leather from old medicine balls into bags. As we look back to our roots with the change of the year, we revisit our origins and kickstart this year by introducing a special upcycling project, creating 15 unisex cardigans from leftover knit samples that will be available on Thursday at 8 PM on a first-come, first-served basis (EUR 695). Only available online!
When developing a knitwear collection, small test squares are knitted from the desired yarn before creating a garment. Over the past years, we’ve diligently collected these knit samples to turn them into something new one day. Now, we’re breathing new life into them by individually combining those patches in order to create a highly-limited release of 15 one-of-a-kind cardigans.
Every cardigan, one different from the other, encapsulates the evolution of our brand. The diverse colour palettes, knitting methods, and textures from the collected knit patches, not only resemble AKOG’s journey on a design perspective – since our founding, each year has been different from the other, resembling various stages of change and growth.
Carefully curated and arranged by our in-house design team in Munich and expertly finished by our knitwear manufacturer in Thuringia, each piece incorporates finest mixed materials like wool, cashmere, and cotton.
Proudly crafted entirely in Germany.
